Ascension Jesus Christ was the alternative name for the Christian holiday, Ascension Day, or sometimes also called the Ascension of Christ. This moving celebration always falls on Thursday, 40 days after Easter.
This story is found in Acts 1:4-12. After a day of Easter (the resurrection of Jesus from the dead), the disciples of Jesus portrayed was still not understand the true meaning of all the events they experienced. Many of those who still hope that Jesus would restore the kingdom of David, which has collapsed (Acts 1:6).
But Jesus had another mission is not of the world. He told his disciples: "... ye shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth." (v. 8). And after leaving the message, the Acts of the Apostles depicts Jesus ascended into heaven, as witnessed by his disciples. The incident stunned them. But the two angels of God appeared and reminded them that the message has been given to them. They waited ten days in Jerusalem until the coming of the day of Pentecost, then they began to preach the Gospel to the whole world.
